How to live your own dream?
What do you really want from life? Do you spend your days like you have always wanted to – fulfilled and satisfied with everything that has happened so far? Do you learn something new everyday and get the most out of each day?
What is your life plan, your goals, your hopes, and desires? Do you wake up in the morning with a smile and enjoy yourself during the day or wake up with heavy thoughts, feeling lethargic and all you want is to do is to get back to your bed in the evening and keep on dreaming? Do you feel that you can live a fulfilled life only in your dreams, that life is just passing by you, and that you are just a quiet observer of your own life? A lot of questions, but how to find answers?
If you want to live your dream, the first step on this path is to make a life plan, and perhaps now is the right moment … the moment to start a new life where you can imagine yourself in five, ten or twenty years doing some meaningful things with your loved ones, in a way that you find pleasant. Some people sometimes live their lives as if on autopilot – simply carrying out their daily duties day after day. When those days accumulate, they will definitely bring them somewhere. But have those people really wanted to arrive there or it was the time that took them there? Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation to wonder – where have I been, what have I done? Because if we are in a wrong train, every station is the wrong one.
In order to know where you want to be, it’s good to have a goal or, better yet, a life plan.
Take a piece of paper and a pencil … And write down all the areas of your life:
love, health, career, money, friends … whatever it matters to you.
And write down the answers to several questions that refer to each area.
The first question is: “What do I have and I am happy to have it?”
The second question is:”What I don’t have, and I would like to have it?”
It is very important to put it down on paper, because it is one thing when we want something, and it is quite another feeling when we become aware of our wishes and see them written down on a piece of paper.
Once you write down your answers, read everything you wrote several times and write your plan based on your answers. Pay attention to all those areas where you need improvement. For each area formulate and write down at least one plan.
And remember, focus on a desired result, not on the obstacles. When visualizing the achievement of the goal the obstacles are not important. Will you encounter obstacles? Oooh, yes, of course you will. Is that important? Oooh, no, it is not. There is one saying in NLP that I think Tom Best likes to use very often: “Energy flows where attention goes.” If you devote too much attention to obstacles, your energy will go in that direction and not in the direction of the goal.
It’s like driving a car. You filled the tank and you know that you have enough gas for 1000 kilometers, exactly how much you need to reach the destination. Your attention directed to obstacles equals the holes on the tank. The more holes there are, the more gas will leak from the tank. In the end, you will reach 800 kilometers and the car will stop, because the gas leaked and was not used. And you will not reach the goal. If you direct all your energy and gas to the goal only, there is only one result, and that is to reach your goal.
An important message for the end.
If you take the first step towards achieving your goal today, you will be one day closer to its achievement. If you postpone the first step for a week, you will also delay the enjoyment of the achievement in a week.
